Water Rates to Increase $1.50 Beginning Oct. 1

Beginning Oct. 1, 2026, Modern Electric Water Company will increase the residential water base charge by $1.50 per month.

The adjustment will help Modern keep pace with the rising costs of maintaining and improving the water system, including investments in infrastructure, equipment and other system improvements needed to continue providing safe, reliable water service to our customers.

As a consumer-owned, not-for-profit utility, Modern works hard to keep rates affordable while also making the investments necessary to maintain a dependable water system for the community we serve. Revenue collected through water rates is reinvested directly into the operation, maintenance and improvement of that system.

The new residential water base charge will take effect with bills issued on or after Oct. 1, 2026.

Modern remains committed to providing reliable water service at the lowest reasonable cost to our customers.
