Grateful for Spokane Valley’s clean water

Thought everyone in America had access to safe and clean drinking water? Think again.

Here are some alarming water quality stats:

• • More than 46 million people in America live with water insecurity - they either have no running water or water that may be unsafe to drink.
  • Approximately 2.2 million people in the U.S. have no running water inside their homes - no sinks, bathtubs or toilets.
  • Another 44 million Americans may have indoor plumbing, but their water systems have been in violation of the Safe Water Drinking Act.
  • And yet another 43 million Americans rely on well water that's threatened by record droughts.
  • Lack of access to safe drinking water is a major global crisis. In fact, 80% of diseases and 50% of child deaths worldwide are related to poor water quality.
